Wouldn’t it be awesome if – no matter what the scenario in life – we could call on our own personal security faction to come out of nowhere and defend us. No matter what turmoil or adversity we’re facing, we could just cue that Shield entrance music and suddenly three guys are powerbombing our enemies through an announce table.

Well, that’s actually not too far from the truth. In Ephesians 6:10-18, the Bible describes the Armor of God (or for our purposes, the Shield of Jesus)…
10 Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. 11 Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. 12 For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.
So we’ve established that there are spiritual forces of evil scheming against us, constantly fighting to lure us astray from God. There’s an invisible spiritual battle swarming around our heads, but it’s ultimately up to us as to who we listen to.
13 Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. 14 Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, 15 and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. 16 In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. 17 Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.
This paints a very vivid but comforting image that emphasizes the need to call on Jesus when we are tempted, distracted or weak in our spiritual journey. This concept is actually the foundation of where Fair Fight’s name comes from.
We live every day in a main event match against the enemy and his deception. Here’s the problem. The tale of the tape doesn’t lie. Satan is smarter than us and stronger than us. He knows our weaknesses and how to attack them. Fighting against Satan by ourselves is in possible. But… here’s the good news. This match isn’t one on one. It’s a handicap match, and Jesus is your partner. Every time you feel defeated, tempted or weak and you know you’re a three count away from being done, you can call on the Shield of Jesus, the Armor of God… and tag him in. Because the tale of the tape changes at that point. Jesus wins. Every time. And he’s on your side.
If you always remember to pray and call on Jesus… suddenly, that impossible to win match becomes a Fair Fight.
